Amanda Calatrava

Hi! I'm Amanda Calatrava

I'm an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Systems and Computation (DSIC) at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). I've been part of the GRyCAP research group since 2011, where I developed my PhD (presented at the UPV in 2016, see my thesis here). My research focuses on cloud computing, serverless computing, and AI applied to science. Basically, I spend my time thinking about how to make scientific computing more agile, scalable, and accessible to those who need it, through european projects like EOSC Synergy, iMagine and AI4EOSC. I'm the (co)author of several papers in international journals and conferences, and I still learn something new almost every week. You can check out all my publications here.

Teaching is my other great passion. I love finding alternative ways to explain Computer Science, and I actively research innovative teaching methods to keep improving the courses I teach. I also enjoy bringing Computer Science to audiences of all ages, from preschoolers to university students, through outreach and hands-on activities. I also collaborate with the Museum of Computing, coordinating educational activities and workshops, sharing the story of computing with curious minds of every age.
